Track Work - 200's

There's speedwork and then there's SPEEDwork. 200's are just about the shortest repeat used in most longer distance track training programs. 200's are short but mentally tough as you push through them at a pace significantly faster than 5K pace. I ran this workout with my good friend Brian at a blistering pace, probably at least 2 minutes faster than our current 5K pace. We were averaging about 5 minute per mile pace. The workout was a tough one. It was comprised of four sets of five by 200m. So, after 20 repeats, we were spent! The track workouts are absolutely essential to build that speed component so essential to a well-rounded training program.
